You can easily remove and replace a damaged or worn print head.
Refer to the following videos of the individual replacement procedures.
For Standard/Left-Hand Type

Make sure that the product is powered off, and disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet.

Open the top cover fully to prevent accidental drop of the cover.
|

Turn the head lock lever (1) clockwise to unlock the print head.
|
|
The print head and its surroundings are hot after printing. Wait until the product cools down.
Touching the edge of the print head with your bare hand could cause injury.

Remove the media and ribbon if they are already loaded.
|

Loosen the thumbscrew (2) attached to the cover (3) on the side of the print head assembly, and remove the cover (3).

Pull the tab (4) to remove the print head (5).
|
Support the print head with your hand when the print head is released.

Pull out the print head (5) and remove all the connectors (6) from the defective print head (5).
|

(S84NXonly) For RFID models, the UHF RFID antenna is installed on the print head. Be careful not to overly pull the antenna cable when replacing the print head. Contact your SATO reseller, dealer, or technical support for more information. |

Connect all the connectors (6) to the new print head.
|
|
Handle the print head with care. Do not contaminate or scratch the sensitive print head surface. |

Pull back and arrange the cables (7) from the top of the print head assembly.
|
10.
|
Install the print head (5) to the print head assembly.
|
Align the print head and press the print head upward until it is latched.

Load the media and ribbon back if you remove them in step 4.
