Resolution/Answer

1. Click the [Add] button on the bottom of the [Product Master] screen.

The [Adding New Product] screen is displayed.

2. Enter the [Product Name], [Product Description], [UPC], [EAN], and [Item Reference].

All entries are mandatory except [Description] and [EAN]. [EAN] can be left blank if not required.
The entry requirements for each item are as follows:

• [UPC] (Universal Product Code): Must be 12 digits.
• [EAN] (European Article Number): Cannot exceed 13 digits. (Optional).
• [Item Reference]: 1-6 digits, depending on the length of the user’s GS1 Company Prefix.

Example:
If the length of the GS1 Company Prefix is 6 digits, the [Item Reference] should not exceed 6
digits.
If the length of the GS1 Company Prefix is 7 digits, the [Item Reference] should not exceed 5
digits.
If the length of the GS1 Company Prefix is 11 digits, the [Item Reference] should be only 1
digit.
The following fields are generated automatically. They are displayed in grey and are not
editable by the user.

• [Active]: Defaults to active for new products.
• [GS1 Company Prefix]: Set based on the user’s login information. (6-11 digits).
• [GS1 Company Prefix Length]: Set based on the user’s login information. (6-11).
• [Branch Code]: Defaults to “0”.
• [GTIN] (Global Trade Item Number): This is automatically generated after the user
enters the [Item Reference]. It comprises “0” + [GS1 Company Prefix] + Indicator
(“0” by default) + [Item Reference], totaling 14 digits.

• If the [Item Reference] is shorter than the required length, leading zeros will be
added.
• [Serial Last Number]: Initially set to “0” when creating a new product. (12 digits) It
increases automatically by one with each label printed.

3. Click [Create].
The newly created product information is added to the Master Product List.
