How to connect CL4NX Plus to 802.11 Wi-Fi Network

CL4NX Plus/CL6NX Plus printers.
Resolution/Answer
Prerequisite: The SATO CL4NX Plus Wi-Fi option must be installed in the printer to be able to configure interface. Once WLAN kit is installed, the Ethernet LAN interface will be disabled. All other interfaces will be
available for data communication. For full details on CL4NX Plus Wi-Fi information, please refer to the CL4NX Plus Operator’s Manual available on this link.
This document is to provide basic instruction connecting SATO CL4NX Plus to 802.11 Wi-Fi Network. You will need to have necessary information regarding the specific configuration requirements to connect to Wi-Fi via Infrastructure Mode in order to input information into applicable Wi-Fi interface settings.
After installing the 802.11 WLAN interface (or it was factory installed), you will need to configure the wireless network settings in order to connect wirelessly to either Ad-hoc (peer-to-peer) or Infrastructure (SSID) mode. The instructions below are to demonstrate the steps to configure CL4NX Plus Wi-Fi via Infrastructure Mode.
1) Place CL4NX Plus printer OFFLINE and press ENTER to access Settings Menu

2) In the Settings Menu, navigate selection to Interface menu and press ENTER

3) In the Interface Menu, select Network in menu and press ENTER to configure network settings.

4) In the Network menu, select Settings and press ENTER

5) Select Wi-Fi in menu and press ENTER to configure Wi-Fi settings

6) In the Wi-Fi menu, select Mode and press ENTER to change to Infrastructure and press button.

– Press the button to save selection.
7) Back on Wi-Fi menu, press button to save selection or press (back) button and you will be prompted to save changes.

Once setting has been saved, it is recommended to power cycle printer off/on to initialize the Wi-Fi
interface with configuration change.
8) After restarting CL4NX, navigate back to Wi-Fi menu (steps 1-5) and select SSID from Wi-Fi menu and press ENTER button.

Select the name of the Wi-Fi network you want to connect using the / buttons and press the button to confirm.
Figure 9: To register a Wi-Fi network manually, press the button and enter the name of the network. You can enter a maximum of 32 characters. Alphabets (capital and small letters), numbers and symbols can be used.
9) After making SSID selection, if there are any WLAN security protocols (WEP/WPA/WPA2, etc), you will need to provide the necessary information for the security protocols for WLAN. The CL4NX should indicate security protocol being used (and you can highlight and press ENTER to change selection) as well as allow you to input key information to connect to SSID.

10) With the appropriate Security protocol selected for the SSID, you will need to configure the encryption being used for the security protocol. In the example below, it will be using WPA2 to authenticate to SSID. Select WPA Conf. from Wi-Fi menu and press ENTER.

11) In the WPA Conf. menu, chose the WPA Authentication method and highlight PSK to enter key
information – use the DELETE key to erase any prefilled values and the navigation keys to highlight appropriate character to complete the passphrase/key for the SSID and press ü button to save.
Figure 12: Once you’ve chosen appropriate security protocol parameters, you can use the LCD panel to enter the passphrase using the navigational buttons to select characters and press ENTER key to input selected character. You can toggle from lowercase to Uppercase characters by choosing the Shift button, numeric characters by choosing the 123 button or special characters by choosing the [@!?] button. Once you have entered the correct characters, press the button to save and return to the WPA Conf. menu.
12) Press (back) button to return to the Wi-Fi menu and press button to save Wi-Fi configuration settings. If all information was correctly entered, you should see the Wi-Fi signal strength indicator illuminate In the Status line on LCD (figure 12).
