How to save printer configuration via USB/SD card

Resolution/Answer
To be able to use either an SD Card or USB Flash Memory option in the SATO S84-ex/S86-ex print engine, it will require you to first format the memory to create file structure for utilizing printer features such as updating firmware, emulations, printer settings, standalone printing functions.
Steps to Format Memory Option (SD Card/USB Flash Drive)
- Insert memory option in S84-ex/S86-ex print engine – verify icon appears on the LCD for the designated memory option installed.
a. USB Flash Memory is inserted inside front cover in upper-left corner.

External memory capacity requirement:

SD Card: Maximum 2GB
-
SDHC Card: Minimum 4GB/Maximum 32GB

USB Flash Memory: Maximum 32GB
- b. SD Card Memory is inserted in the slot located on the Interface board of print engine.

With printer OFFLINE, press [ENTER] button to access menu – use directional keys to select MEMORY MODE and press the [ENTER] button
- At SLOT SETTING, select NO and press [ENTER] and advance to Memory Mode menu.

Once at the Memory Mode menu, use the directional arrows to select FORMAT, press [ENTER] button, select memory option you choose to format and press [ENTER]
- Next confirmation will be receiving to format the selected memory option – select YES to MEMORY FORMAT and YES to FORMAT START – the memory option will now be formatted, and beep 3 times once completed – press [ENTER]button to return to MEMORY MODE and the [FUNCTION] button twice to return to normal operation.
Then will be able to use the configuration save/load to save the settings of the printer onto the formatted USB drive:
The SATO S84ex/86ex print engine models utilize printer settings stored on EEPROM to define operation of the print engine. These settings can be saved on memory option and loaded for easy installation of other print engines or restore settings on existing configuration.
Steps to save/upload printer settings using Memory Option (SD Card/USB Flash Drive) on S84-ex/S86-ex models:
- Insert memory option in S84-ex/S86-ex print engine – verify icon appears on the LCD for the designated memory option installed.
a. USB Flash Memory is inserted inside front cover in upper-left corner.
b. SD Card Memory is inserted in the slot located on interface board of print engine.

With printer OFFLINE, press [ENTER] button to access menu – use directional keys to select MEMORY MODE and press [ENTER] button
- At SLOT SETTING, select NO and press [ENTER] and advance to Memory Mode menu.
- Once at the Memory Mode menu, use the directional arrows to select either SETTING SAVE (to save configuration to memory option) or SETTING UPLOAD (to update printer configuration from memory option) and press [ENTER] button.
- Choose memory option location from menu to save or upload configuration settings and press [ENTER]

a. If saved, the printer configuration will be saved on memory option location \PR61\CONF\PRN61.INI folder and beep 3 times when complete – press [ENTER] button.

b. If uploaded, the printer configuration will be saved on print engine and will indicate PRINTER SETTING COMPLETED/PLEASE POWER OFF – cycle print engine power off/on via switch.
